MSEC has learned that scam letters are being sent to foreign workers in the U.S. on L-1A status. L-1A is granted to individuals who transfer from an affiliated foreign entity to the U.S. to undertake executive or managerial positions.
This letter claims that the L-1A worker’s case has been selected for further processing and investigation and requires the L-1A worker to appear for an interview at a United States Citizenship and Immigration Services center with his or her paystubs, W-2s, and salary information. The letter is signed by Lori Scialabba, Deputy Director of USCIS. USCIS has confirmed it has never issued or sent this letter to any L-1A workers.
The scammer may be attempting to collect personal and financial information from the foreign worker for illicit use. If any of your L-1A employees received this letter, or if there are any questions about this scam, please contact MSEC’s Immigration Services department at 800.884.1328.
