The current Form I-9 is set to expire on March 31, 2016. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) proposed various changes to the current Form I-9 in November 2015 for public comments. Although the expiration date of the current I-9 is fast approaching, USCIS has not released a new version. Employers should continue using the current form until the new one is published. Unfortunately, there is no anticipated release date. In 2013, when USCIS published the new form, employers were given a grace period to transition to the new form, which is likely to be given this time.
